Holy smokes order the #7 hand pulled noodle in braised beef soup you will not regret it. My Chinese compadres can probably speak more to its authenticity but I assure you it’s as authentic and delicious as it gets. Bringing me back to my late night Lanzhou beef noodle soup runs during my Beijing days. I might be so bold and say it’s worth the trip to Calgary alone, 太好吃了!
Calan Beef Noodle House Review We recently took my sister, her husband, and their two kids to Calan Beef Noodle House to introduce them to the magic of hand-pulled noodles—and once again, this spot delivered beyond expectations. We ordered a variety of dishes, including braised beef noodles, cumin lamb noodles, seafood noodles, chili oil noodles with vegetables, house tea, sesame balls, and steamed buns. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and served piping hot. The chili oil noodles had just the right amount of heat, and the house tea was honestly the best I’ve ever had in any Asian restaurant—an absolute must-try. The noodles, hand-pulled right in front of you, were cooked to perfection and tailored exactly to our preferences. Even the kids, who are notoriously picky eaters, cleaned their plates—a true testament to how good the food was. While the decor is a bit outdated, it fades into the background when the food is this good. The service was attentive, and you can tell the kitchen staff take immense pride in their craft. If you’re a noodle lover or just someone who appreciates fresh, authentic flavors, Calan Beef Noodle House is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Calan Noodle is authentic Chinese street food with all Halal options. You'll like this place, If you're looking for hand pulled noodles, made fresh in front of you. The decor is pretty unique and service is very courteous here. Noodles are pretty filling so it's a good idea to share, we tried many items and preferred stirr noodles over on soup. Overall this is a great place to fill your craving of noodles.
The braised beed noodles are delicious. The soup/broth was very tasty! I accidentally asked for thick noodles they were too thick for me. There’s not much space to sit sinces its a small shop.
I love this place! Delicious food and great prices. Always a generous and filling portion, and tastes fresh. It’s awesome watching them pull the noodles. This location is a lot smaller than the downtown one, but the service seemed better.
Consistently delicious hand pulled noodles made to order. It is so hard to not just come here every time we come to the city. My husband likes the braised beef soup, and I love the beef stir fry. Their chili oil adds the perfect spicy kick and so much flavour. Can’t say enough good things about Calan!
Hearty, fresh, unique and delicious - all at a good price point. I’ve been going to Calan Beef Noodle since it first opened years ago and it’s always a nice, satisfying meal. I love the fresh hand-pulled noodles and it’s especially fun when you get to see them make it. Service is fast and friendly. Seating is limited, but I like how the incorporated a display of northern Chinese spices in their table as decor.
A small, clean, and welcoming place. It was our first visit, and the staff was attentive while taking our order. Watching the noodles being made was both fun and fascinating. We tried the fried lamb noodle and the beef soup noodle both were very tasty, and the portions were generous. It was great to see that the meats are halal, with certificates clearly displayed. We will definitely come back to try other varieties.
